FBPWS - Federation
of Business and Professional Women (Singapore) was
registered with the Singapore Registry of Societies on 9
July 2001, and its members comprise the following BPW clubs:
SBPWA Singapore
Business and Professional Women’s Association formed in 1972
SBPWA Mandarin Chapter formed in 1986
BPWA (Singapore) Third Chapter formed in 1999
The Federation
is affiliated to
BPW International,
and therefore its goals are closely linked to that of the
international organization. These are to promote the
interests of business and professional women and secure
combined action by them, while seeking also to work for high
standards of service in business and the professions.
The
Federation hopes to stimulate and encourage women in
their realization and acceptance of their responsibilities
to the local, regional and international communities, and at
the same time acquire education, occupational training and
advanced education. It also sets its sights on promoting
equal opportunities and status for women in Singapore and
the removal of discrimination against women. The Federation
endeavours to promote friendship, co-operation and
understanding between business and professional women of all
countries. In addition, the Federation aims to strengthen
the work of its member clubs by undertaking the following
role and tasks:
Representing
Singapore in the BPW international network
Representing
BPW in Singapore and overseas
Communicating
to BPW Singapore members news on the BPW International front
and coordinating activities at the international level
Joining
hands with BPW clubs to help achieve their individual goals
and aspirations
Promoting
and facilitating inter-club cooperation and collaboration
through joint activities
Providing
a common, expanded platform for BPW members to access
resources and expertise within all the clubs
Receiving
and disseminating information on issues concerning
BPW
