The BPW Asia-Pacific Regional Conference was successfully hosted by the Federation of Business and Professional Women (Singapore) at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore from 15-18 October 2010.

There were approximately 150 delegates from 18 countries at the four-day conference, which was officiated by BPW International President, Liz Benham, Asia-Pacific Regional Coordinator, Dr Young Hai Park, FBPW(Singapore) President, Ng Hong, and several Executive Committee members from BPW International.  Of special mention is the fact that a delegation from the Chinese Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Beijing, joined a BPW conference for the first time.

Singapore’s first woman Cabinet Minister, Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, who is also Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and Transport, gave the keynote address, highlighting three areas that would help women to realize their full potential as leaders - creating equal opportunities for all, building up the capabilities of women, and creating support structures for women in the workplace.

Based on the conference theme, “Empowerment of Women to Make a Difference”, the delegates discussed ways to ensure better work-life integration, ways to strengthen women in businesses as well as exchanged information on BPW initiatives around the world.  Several declarations came out of the conference to support the adoption and continued support for these BPW initiatives, such as the “Equal Pay Day Awareness Campaign” and “Women’s Empowerment Principles”.
